In his annual lecture RSA chief executive, Matthew Taylor will explore what we mean by the idea of 21st century enlightenment and why he thinks the original enlightenment period was not just about new ideas but a more fundamental shift in consciousness.  Taking place at the RSA London on 17 June this event will also be live streamed in Manchester at Manchester Digital Development Agency in Portland Street.

Fellows and friends are invited to attend a live streaming from RSA, John Adam Street, arriving from 5.45 the lecture will be followed by a led discussion.

You are welcome to join this unique event to watch the lecture, which will begin live at 6pm followed by interaction, discussion, debate and networking. We welcome contributions from participants who wish to cover the event through social media tools, individuals willing to blog, tweet and connect with Fellows online.

Matthew will discuss whether another such shift is required for us to meet the challenges we face today – such as tackling climate change, achieving human security and dignity on a global scale and promoting human fulfilment and well-being – and the role that can be played by institutions such as the RSA. Matthew has been blogging and created a wiki of his draft to allow Fellows to make comment and suggestions.
